As I get older, skincare has become more and more important to me. One of the biggest contributors to aging and damaged skin is extensive sun exposure. With the breakdown of the ozone layer, there is very little standing between the suns strong rays and the damage it can do to your skin. I mean, did you know that the sun is the single biggest factor causing visible signs of again (source)? Yikes...
However, as a busy mom to three young kids, I look to have as much of a pared-down skin routine as I can. In the past, that meant skipping sunscreen altogether. But lately, I've made it a priority to find a moisturizer that has sunscreen built-in. Multi-purpose skincare products are lifesavers for me and if you're a busy person, I think they'll really help you find and stick to a skincare routine so you can have your best skin possible.
These were the determining factors for why I chose the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30. On their website, this moisturizer claims to be:
- Powerful anti-aging face moisturizer with lightweight SPF 30, hydrates to regenerate skin's surface
- Visible wrinkle results start day 1
- Formula with amino-peptide complex, delivers anti-aging ingredient 10 layers deep
- Fast absorbing, non-greasy moisturizer with sunscreen
- Improves skin's texture in 4 weeks
I have to say that this sunscreen is better suited for someone with drier skin. I have combination-oily skin and unfortunately, this sunscreen left my face greasy. Very greasy. This isn't something that I typically have happen to me so it took me some time to realize that it was my the new moisturizer that I had put into my skincare rotation.
With that being said, the product is very light. It doesn't feel greasy when applying it and it didn't leave a white residue over my skin after application, making it an easy moisturizer to wear with or without makeup. It absorbed very quickly and it was a dream to apply. While it's not the moisturizer for me during the summer, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will work really well for me during the winter months when that extra bit of hydration will be much needed. One thing that I appreciate about the packaging is the pump. It allows you to have a lot of control over the amount of product that you use. A big bonus.
Since this made me so greasy, I can't attest to the anti-aging properties of the moisturizer. I'll revisit this baby during the winter when the weather is much drier and see if my skin reacts better.
It's a bummer that my skin reacted the way that it did because other than that, I actually really like the moisturizer and the higher level of SPF that it carries.
What's your favourite moisturizer and sunscreen to use during the warmer months?
